TTT 2

itchin' (for tekken). that's what i felt after i saw the trailer for tekken tag tournament 2. so the dust flew off my neglected ps2 (my psp has been indisposed for quite sometime now) and controller for some much needed tekken rounds.

the trailer was a christmas gift from tekken's creator harada. but... TTT 2 won't come til mid 2011. can't wait!

and oh, guess who this guy is. >:) he'll be coming back to TTT 2 with all of the rest of the T6:BR characters along with new (jaycee) and not so new (jinpachi) characters.

p.s. bonus!

tekken kaching

aside from having jaw-dropping graphics and a robust selection of characters paired with a solid fighting system, tekken 6: bloodline rebellion's appeal for me also lies in customizing the characters. you can turn your stock miguel into a rambo look alike or make kuma/panda a tutu-wearing-monster-ballerina or lili into a succulent succubus reminiscent of morrigan from darkstalkers. the possibilities are only limited by your imagination, the available costumes and money. that's right, money. tekken money that is. hehe.

tekken money is earned in various ways but ultimately you just have to win matches to gain some dough. it's a pain since you only gain as much as 30000++ per fight win and you actually need tons and tons of cash to purchase a costume! but there's a much easier way to become a tekken millionaire. and that is through exploiting the new and improved tekken roulette system. (i really don't get it why namco decided to call it roulette when it is more of a slot machine. ehe.)

here's how,

1. first go to options and turn off auto save.
2. go to ghost battle and pick your a character.
3. play. play. play. but be sure to be on the look out for the sign* that you have a tekken roulette.
4. once you see the sign, pause the game, exit to the main menu and save your data.
5. now that we have a single roulette we want that lone roulette to grow in number. and that is through accessing super roulette**. super roulettes are gained by getting a lucky slot on the third wheel of the roulette. there's no skill involved here only luck. if you don't get lucky just load your data until you do.
6. once you get lucky, exit to the main menu and again save your data.
7. wash lather rinse repeat.

*the sign: it appears at the upper left of the screen. it kinda looks like a red police siren is highlighting the battle count and the running time you've been playing. also the sign appears on the tenth battle if you picked a new character.

**super roulette: this is an additional roulette wherin you net additional roulettes when three rush slots are alligned either horizontaly or diagonally. rage effects are also attained here.

i'm playing t6:br on my psp and i'd bet that the above method will work on the ps3 and xbox. now go out and pimp your tekken 6 character.

zoom zoom zoom

i'm a big fan of the gta series. i think it's concept of the player freely roaming the city is innovative. i also love driving around each city while listening to some tunage on the in game radi. the song selections are awesome and the in game radio also have actual radio programs which is funny and very entertaining. one thing i can't relate with the game though is the general feel of the driving because the streets are really wide and traffic is close to non-existent. and my edsa state of mind really can't process that.

flash forward to now, after spending most part of my stay here in sydney driving from one place to another, now i can totally find the connection of the driving simulation gta adopted on the game with real life driving. the streets and highways here are wide and have enough space between each car. traffic here is so light and so un-stressful. and the radio stations here are so similar to what is on gta radio, though plus the aussie accent. it's just a bit disorienting because cars here are right hand drives so they drive on the"wrong" side of the road. napapakapit na lang ako kasi parang babanga sa kasalubong na kotse. lalo na pag-paliko. hehe.

tournament start

as some of you may know, the first ever national tekken 6 tournament was held today and i had a blast, tekken fan boy that i am, watching all those quality matches.

the set up:

  • 4 tekken 6 machines
  • machines 1 and 4 are connected to the big screen which can play both matches simultaenously
  • booming t6 sounds from speakers (first time that i actually heard t6 soundtrack. i liked the jungle stage bgm)
  • matches consists of best of 5 rounds
  • players are "randomly" assigned to machines 1 to 4 via the colored chip they got from the fish bowl
the players:

players 1 to 8

players 9 to 16

players 17 to 24

players 25 to 32

first round highlights:
  • players must win 2 matches to advance to the next round
  • the emergence of STRONG (jail - marduk) as the crowd favorite
  • top seed players dropping out, mawts - nina, happy - jin
  • highest ranked player (raijin?), lim yun soo - lei, in the tournament surprised no one when he advanced to the next round

top 16 players (abooooot peys!)

second round highligts:
  • players must win 3 matches to advance to the next round
  • strong makes it to the next round
  • cris(???) - kazuya almost did a lazarus on LYS when he came back from a 4-0 deficit, tying the series to 4-4 but alas came short when he failed to clinch the 5th and final round of the match

the top 8

third round highlights:
  • players must win 5 matches to advance to the next round
  • fufu - devil jin eliminates clan mate and crowd fave STRONG
  • LYS sweeps (d/b+4) this round

the final four
from left to right: paulo jugo (devil jin), lim yun soo (lei), daniel xavier chua (xiayou), carlo manuel racela (bob)

semi-finals highlights:
  • players must win 7 matches to advance to the next round
  • losing players will play against each other for 3rd place
  • winning players will play against each other for 1st place
  • fufu - djin vs pms - bob
  • dacs - xiayou vs h+s - lei
  • crowd cheered for every round that dacs won
  • first four matches of dacs vs LYS was close, but LYS slowly pulled away the following matches

the finals

finals highlights:
  • 5 matches to win the title of the first ever philippine tekken champion
  • crowd intently watching the pinas vs korea match (hehe)
  • crowd cheered for every round that bob won
and the winner is...

LYS taking home the bacon with the timezone big wigs and yes, the infamous wendy valdez

afterthougts:
  • sorry for the blurry pictures.
  • i hope they organize another tournament next year.
  • LYS and PMS will be representing the philippines in the international competition
  • mark your calendars: december 13, 2008 the day of the international competition that will be held at the trinoma lobby.
  • they will be playing against new zealand, singapore and australia's champion. and whoever wins there will be playing against a player from japan.
  • someone might be bringing in T6:BR for play testing. *crosses fingers*
  • thanks to all the sponsors especially to timezone!
