the clash

the alien warmth engulfs me, steady
my touch, my mood, centered and certain
i know.
ideas circle and go, as seasons
and people cycle through,
i remember that all is fine.

i swim with the wave of deja vu,
finding, sensing intimacy i know.
a glimpse of you sends rapture through me.
that instant's calmness shattered
by a yearning
to be in oblivious limbo perennial.

i am powerless in your proximity,
the closeness intoxicating.
the ivory tower of sanctuary
momentarily crumbles with the clash of feelings.
but knowing smiles paint comfort,
mutual strangeness replaced by shared bliss.

now i leave the horde of tangled cars
i walk.
i linger in daze thoughts of adulation and the wave.
and i ache...
for the clash
to repeat.
