last saturday i watched mike enriquez's imbestigador special report about the philippine's trans-poor-tation. in the report he compared our transportation system with other asian countries. i was surprised with thailand's, impressed with singapore's and very very disappointed with our's.

and after coming from a 3 hour damn traffic jam i am now not only very very disappointed but also now depressed with our pathetic excuse for a transportation "system."

i'm moving to singapore. there i'll welcome you to spit-less streets, very very light traffic, b.o. free(?) mrts and bus stops with my newly acquired singaporean accent heavy english.

  1. sure, singapore is pretty, has spit-less streets and much much more civilized.

but about the traffic, the b.o in the mrt... i'm telling you now they have that too. and even cold countries where people shouldn't be sweating have that too. :P

singapore is about the size of region 3, region 4 and metro manila combined. their biggest body of water is a river. they are not divided by mountains or by seas. they are not divided into islands. for such a small place like that, with literally nothing on their way, of course, anybody could make a better nation out of it.

i agree we have to do something about our transportation system. and i hope our corrupt government is at least doing something about it. but do you remember the time when the MRT was still under construction, and every one was complaining, mainly because of all the traffic it was causing? it's just funny. we filipinos complain on the lack of progress in our country. but maybe no one is making a move on it because we filipinos are also not willing to sacrifice comfort for progress. wala lang. hehe!

  2. hmmm... i should edit that b.o. part into,

"an mrt where you can move around not to smell b.o."

i'm all for sacrifice if it means that there would be a noticeable improvement.

but what's really killing us is poor planning and corruption. not to mention lack of discipline too.
